Historical notes
The Banjo is documented in both lighter manuscripts as a characteristic Ronson automatic design. Smithsonian records describe it as first marketed in 1926 and catalog a Newark-manufactured surviving example dated 1927. These are different historical dates, not a contradiction: introduction and object manufacture should not be conflated.
Identification guidance
Compare the single-action ignition arrangement and stamped Ronson markings; establish material, finish and individual manufacturing period from the actual specimen.
Sources and research limits
The book material is a research starting point, not automatic proof of manufacture or ownership of any particular lighter. Listed historic dates apply only as qualified above.
